banglalink sponsors 'shah abdul karim loko utshob 2013'

in our continuous endeavor to promote culture and heritage of bangladesh, banglalink recently sponsored“shah abdul karim loko utshob 2013” in sunamganj for the 6th consecutive year. the event is held at “uzandhol” under dirai upazilla ofsunamganj district which is the home of the baul music king shah abdul karim.

shah abdul karim is an icon of ‘baul music’ which is genre of folk music in bangladesh. he has written and composed about 2000 songs. bangla academy has translated his songs into english and honored him with the highest prestigious national award – ‘ekushey podok’ in 2001. shah abdul karim’s songs have attained enormous popularity among music fans of different generations. shah abdul karim passed away on 9th september, 2009.
