- Airtel celebrates its 1st anniversary in Bangladesh
Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, celebrated its 1st anniversary of its operations in Bangladesh, said a press release.
The news release said Airtel’s strategic business focus on expanding network and introducing innovative products and services in Bangladesh has won the trust of 5.8 million plus customers in Bangladesh till date, making it the fastest growing telecommunications company in the country.
Going forward, Airtel would continue to strengthen its position in the Bangladesh market by enhancing network capabilities and introducing products and services that are innovative, affordable and relevant for its customers in Bangladesh, it added.
In January 2010, Bharti had acquired 70 percent stake in Warid Telecom and subsequently launched brand Airtel in Bangladesh in December 2010.
Chris Tobit, Managing Director and CEO, Airtel Bangladesh Ltd said, “As Bangladesh nears the celebration of 40 years of its independence, we at Bharti Airtel feel proud to be a part of the country’s growth story.”
He added: “It is Airtel’s constant endeavor to contribute towards increasing the penetration of mobile telephony in the deepest pockets of the country and bring world class services for our customers.”
Chris Tobit said, “Our journey with millions of customers in Bangladesh has been remarkable and this success achieved is symbolic of the trust brand Airtel has successfully been able to instigate within our customers here.”
During the span of last one year, Airtel Bangladesh announced several initiatives aimed at helping the company establish a strong position for itself in the market and enriching the lives of the customers in various dimensions.
These initiatives largely focused on ramping up network capabilities, enhancing retail presence and introducing innovative products and services for customers in Bangladesh as they continue supporting the values of the company.
Over the last few months, Airtel added more than 1,500 new network sites in Bangladesh, establishing wide scale availability of its best-in-class services in 4,350 towns including 398 thanas & 2,158 unions.
Aimed at enhancing customer experience, Airtel has established 124 Relationship Centers and 6 Experience Centers across Bangladesh. Apart from the re-launch of brand Airtel in the last year, customers in Bangladesh also saw a host of exciting launches including ‘Airtel Live’ WAP portal, BlackBerry services, Song Catcher, vessel weather alerts and vessel tracking services.
