The telecommunications and post affairs ministry Wednesday approved to set up the second submarine cable in the country.
State run submarine company Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company limited (BSCCL) will establish second submarine cable.
Sources said the BSCCL has got the approval in favor of the organization Wednesday.
To lay down the second submarine cable, it will need Tk 400 crore.
Manwar Hossain, Managing Director of BSCCL told that they would start work to collect fund.
At present, if only one submarine cable don’t function, telecommunications and internet service is totally hampered.
These types of trouble will be removed after installing second submarine cable.
At the same time, internet speed will be high as well as voice service will be easier than before, he added.
Alternative submarine cable route will be from Khulna of Bangladesh to Chennai in India.
After completing the task, Bangladesh will be connected with world’s second submarine cable network.
