The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday at May 03, 2011 approved the final authentication project to launch Teletalk 3G technology and extend the existing 2.5G network, planning minister A K Khandker told reporters.
Planning secretary Manzur Hossain told also that Teletalk would be able to serve the 3G technology to 1.72 million subscribers and 2.5G to over 4.7 million. Manzur said the estimated project period is January 2011-December 2012.

টেলিটকে থ্রি জি সেবা চালুর প্রকল্প একনেকে অনুমোদন টেলিযোগাযোগ খাতের রাষ্ট্রায়ত্ত্ব কোম্পানি টেলিটকের মাধ্যমে তৃতীয় প্রজন্মের (থ্রি জি) মোবাইল ফোন সেবা চালুর জন্য একটি প্রকল্প অনুমোদন করেছে জাতীয় অর্থনৈতিক পরিষদের নির্বাহী কমিটি (একনেক)।

মঙ্গলবার শেরেবাংলা নগরে এনইসি সম্মেলন কক্ষে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার সভাপতিত্বে একনেকের এই সভা হয়।

সভা শেষে পরিকল্পনা মন্ত্রী এ কে খন্দকার সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, 'ডাক ও টেলিযোগাযোগ মন্ত্রণালয় থ্রি জি প্রযুক্তি চালুকরণ এবং ২.৫ জি নেটওয়ার্ক স¤প্রসারণ' প্রকল্প সভায় অনুমোদন হয়েছে।

পরিকল্পনা সচিব মঞ্জুর হোসেন সাংবাদিকদের বলেন, টেলিটক ১৭ লাখ ২৮ হাজার গ্রাহককে থ্রি জি সেবা দিতে পারবে। এছাড়া ৪৭ লাখ ৭২ হাজার গ্রাহককে ২.৫ জি সেবা দিতে পারবে তারা।

এ প্রকল্পে ব্যয় হবে ১৯০১ কোটি টাকা। এর মধ্যে বাংলাদেশ সরকার দেবে ৪২৪ কোটি টাকা। বাকি ১৪৭৭ কোটি টাকা চীন সরকারের কাছ থেকে বার্ষিক ২ শতাংশ সুদে ঋণ নেওয়া হবে।

সচিব জানান, প্রকল্পের মেয়াদ ধরা হয়েছে চলতি বছরের জানুয়ারি থেকে ২০১২ সালের ডিসেম্বর পর্যন্ত।

ফয়সাল সায়েম রিয়াদঃ দেশের বৃহত্তম মোবাইল অপারেটর প্রতিষ্ঠান ‘গ্রামীণফোন লিমিটেড’ ২০১১ সালের জানুয়ারি-মার্চ পর্যন্ত ২,০৬৭ কোটি টাকা রাজস্ব আয় করেছে। গত বছরের একই সময়ের তুলনায় ৩৬৩ কোটি টাকা বেশি। অন্য দিকে গ্রাহকসংখ্যা ২০ লাখ বেড়েছে। ফলে গ্রাহক সংখ্যা পৌঁছেছে ৩ কোটি ২০ লাখের কাছাকাছি। যা দেশের মোট গ্রাহকের শতকরা ৪৩ দশমিক ৮ ভাগ।সোমবার রাজধানীর রূপসী বাংলা হোটেলে ‘গ্রামীণফোনের প্রথম প্রান্তিকের আর্থিক প্রতিবেদন’ প্রকাশ উপলক্ষে আয়োজিত সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এ তথ্য জানান উপ-প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা ও প্রধান অর্থ কর্মকর্তা রায়হান শামসি। গ্রাহক সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ায় ভয়েস, ডাটা ও আন্তসংযোগ ট্রাফিকের আয় এবং হ্যান্ডসেট বিক্রির আয় বৃদ্ধির কারণে প্রতিষ্ঠানের আয় বেড়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন শামসি। তিনি বলেন, ২০১০ সালের শেষ তিন মাসের চেয়েও এই আয় ১০৯ কোটি বেশি। ২০১১ এর শুরুতেই নেটওয়ার্কের আধুনিকায়ন এবং ধারণক্ষমতা বাড়াতে বিনিয়োগ করা হয়েছে ২০৬ কোটি টাকা। তিনি জানান, প্রতিষ্ঠার পর থেকে এ পর্যন্ত গ্রামীণফোন মোট ১৬ হাজার কোটি টাকারও বেশি বিনিয়োগ করেছে এবং সরকারি কোষাগারে বিভিন্ন ধরনের কর হিসাবে জমা দিয়েছে ১৯ হাজার ৪৪৬ কোটি টাকা। গ্রামীনফোন কমিউনিকেশন বিভাগের প্রধান কাজী মনিরুল কবীর জানান, কয়েক মাস ধরে তারা নেটওয়ার্কের আধুনিকায়নের কাজ করছে। এতে করে গ্রাহকদের সাময়িক অসুবিধার জন্য তিনি দুঃখ প্রকাশ করেন। বিটিআরসি’র দ্বিতীয় প্রজন্মের (২জি) মোবাইল ফোন লাইসেন্স নবায়ন নীতিমালা নিয়ে ৪টি মোবাইল কোম্পানির আলোচনা হচ্ছে জানিয়ে শামসি বলেন, আমাদের বিশ্বাস টেলিযোগাযোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ কর্তৃপক্ষ আমাদের কথা শুনবেন এবং এ দেশের সাধারণ মানুষের স্বার্থকে সংরক্ষণ করে বিনিয়োগবান্ধব নীতিমালা প্রণয়ন করবে।’
